Purpose of the Policy

StarNexus Science Press is committed to making scholarly books freely available to readers worldwide. This Open Access Policy outlines our commitment to the gold open access model, ensuring that all monographs, edited volumes, and reference works are immediately and permanently accessible online without barriers.

Gold Open Access Model

StarNexus Science Press operates under a gold open access model. This means:

  • Free for readers: All books are immediately available online upon publication, with no subscription or registration fees.
  • Transparent BPC: The publishing costs are covered by transparent Book Processing Charges (BPC), which are invoiced only after acceptance.
  • Author retains copyright: All books are published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0), allowing broad reuse and sharing.

Book Processing Charges (BPC)

To support the gold open access model, we apply a Book Processing Charge (BPC) to accepted monographs. The BPC covers the costs of:

  • Rigorous peer review management
  • Professional copyediting and typesetting
  • DOI and ISBN registration
  • Global distribution and open access hosting
  • Permanent digital archiving (Portico and CLOCKSS)

Important: BPC is invoiced only after acceptance. No submission fees are charged. Discounts and waivers are available for eligible authors.

Author Rights

Under the CC BY 4.0 license, authors retain full copyright of their work and grant the publisher the right of first publication. Authors are free to:

  • Share, copy, and redistribute the work in any medium or format
  • Adapt, remix, transform, and build upon the work for any purpose
  • Deposit the work in institutional repositories and preprint servers

Proper attribution to the original authors must be maintained.

Digital Preservation

To guarantee long-term access to our publications, all books are permanently archived in:

  • Portico — a community-supported digital archive
  • CLOCKSS — a distributed preservation network

This Open Access Policy is reviewed regularly and may be updated to reflect evolving standards in scholarly publishing. The current version is always available on this page.
